Way to The Nations
Way to the Nations (WTTN) is a launchpad into cross-cultural fieldwork training and preparation. A ‘programme’ that actually is not really a programme at all. But rather, a process that facilitates ‘doing life together’. Although there is a ‘time-cap’ of six months for pragmatic reasons, what one learns during this equipping period is life-long and continuous.
Every fieldworker’s need is different, because He has given each of us a specific purpose and role. Although we were all created in His image, we have been uniquely wired. Each with an ability to think, create, contribute towards, maintain and establish.
The WTTN process has taught us how to fine-tune Biblical tools such as leading Bible Study Groups, presenting a message, exegeting a passage of Scripture and discipling those God puts on our paths. Beyond that, we have grown in our love for one another, the body that forms church and for people with a desperate need for God.
This process made us aware of all the different aspects of physically being on the field – all the practicalities of what one needs to consider before going and the implications thereof. This includes things like living far from family and friends in a different country or province, exposure to other cultures and languages, not having a stable income and trusting Him to provide. Also things like forming a core team who shares the same vision God has given you and that keeps you accountable, as well as maintaining a prayer group. But most importantly, giving the Word the authority that belongs to it and allowing God to use His word to transform our lives, communities and the church.
If you feel the nudge in your heart to launch into the nations and are considering joining the WTTN process, remember: if you are not able to do what you feel God is calling you to do, in the community you’re now in, how will you be prepared to do it there? The WTTN process, is a beautiful opportunity to prepare for the nations, in a safe and loving community.
We are grateful for all that our facilitator taught us, for all the effort that was put into pioneering this process and for Global Community Church.
To the nations we go!
