Eswatini – Luke 10

We entered Eswatini with great excitement, as this was to be the first country we were to visit. Eswatini is a tremendously beautiful country with very friendly people.

Our first passports stamps for the year

We had a warm welcome at a guesthouse owned by the parents of a Global community member and even received cake! God knows how to make us feel special, because it happened to be Helé’s birthday.

We were still enjoying a time of rest when it was announced that we would be having our first Luke 10 challenge. In Luke 10 Jesus sends the disciples out in pairs with nothing but the clothes and sandals on them. On their journey they trust the Holy Spirit to lead and the Father to provide in every need, including accommodation and food. We were about to embark on a similar journey for 2-3 days.

We were divided into smaller teams

Each team started to pray about what the Lord had in store for us on the coming journey. The teams received many words and pictures that would guide us on our separate roads ahead.

The Lord showed up like only He can and amazed us once again. On our journeys we got to pray for many people and the Holy Spirit could be tangibly experienced as we were listening for His guidance, sometimes literally asking whether we should go left or right.

Each team was looking for a person of peace with whom we could spend time with and serve them in any way possible. One team cooked for the family that they were staying with, with money the Lord provided in miraculous ways. Another team spent extensive time interceding for the family of believers that opened their home to them.

Lizé made a marvellous meal for about 10 people with money the Lord provided from strangers

Each team had a unique story that would be very hard to tell all in one post but here are some accounts from team members:

“The logistics that God orchestrated for us to stay with the very man of peace He had chosen weeks before our arrival is beyond human comprehension. It defies the laws of probability and transcends the limits of modern science. God’s wisdom truly surpasses all human understanding.”
– Charl-Philip

“Our team experienced a refiner’s fire Luke 10. We had many challenges and often found ourselves having to “shake the dust from our feet” and move on more often than we might have liked. God really took us on adventure, leading us from one clue to the next, and in every place confirming we were on the right path with the colour yellow. There were several occasions where we prayed for a sign that we were on the right track and God replied with simple things like a yellow flower, a yellow butterfly, or – in the most extravagant case – a yellow polo coming over the hill moments after we asked for a yellow car. Yellow was God’s way of telling us “I am with you” throughout our journey. We had an extremely difficult day the second day, and the promise of yellow was in many cases what kept us from resigning to despair. God used yellow to say “I never left you, and I never will.”
Our Luke 10 was a practical testimony of Psalm 23; we went to the valleys, and the only comfort we had was our Shepherd’s staff and hand of guidance. We didn’t find a person of peace to stay with, but God provided in miraculous ways: opening unbelievers’ hearts to host us, opening gates for us to pass through (literally), and giving us encouragement through our teammates. The most important thing our team took away was that He is always with us, and that He was our person of peace, as our Prince of Peace. He proved Himself to be our Champion and our King on our Luke 10.”

– Helené

“Our lady of peace was going through a difficult time and was questioning why she was living. She cried out to God the day before we met her. She blessed us with food and accommodation and said that God had sent us to minister to her. It was truly amazing to see how God hears those that cry out to Him.”
– Elize

When we got back to the guesthouse we got ready to start driving to Bulembu. Our next ministry point was an orphanage that is in an old mining town. We set up camp and enjoyed the incredible views. We had a tour of the town and got to see the amazing work Bulembu ministries are doing. They are taking care of nearly 200 children through self-sustainable enterprises run in the town, such as a dairy and a bakery amongst others.

We didn’t have a lot of time at Bulembu but got to tell our Luke 10 stories to some of the youth and we cleared a field surrounding the solar panels on the grounds.

From Bulembu we returned to South Africa for 2 weeks of Veritas Module 2 Bible Study training. During this module our eyes were opened to a new perspective on the Old testament, revealing God’s mercy and sovereignty.

That is all for now but pretty soon we will be able to greet you from Malaysia.

Love and blessings,

The One Year Team of 2025
