Bali | Break My Heart For What Breaks Yours
As our team arrived in Bali, we were met with the island’s stunning beauty. However one of the most impactful moments that I’ve chosen to highlight from this country is the raw cry of a man that felt the burden of his community. This is what us as Servants of Christ need to hear. During a fellowship we began to pray ( popcorn style).
Suddenly, with tears in his eyes, he cried out to God. “Please Lord save this village, they are lost. Please, O God my father, save them from themselves.“
Many of us fell to our knees and cried with him. Suddenly it became real. His words pierced our souls. We had come to serve, but in that moment, we realised that we needed to be served – to be broken and humbled before the Lord.
We began to ask the Lord to break our hearts for what breaks His. To see the world through His eyes, to feel the weight of His passion for the lost, and to be moved by the same compassion that drives Him.
As we prayed, we felt the Lord stirring our hearts. We began to see the people of Bali not just as individuals but as precious souls, created in God’s image, longing for redemption. We started to understand that our mission was not just about serving but about surrendering to the Lord’s heartbeat.
Lead By Prayer
Our time in Bali became a journey of discovery, as we sought to align our hearts with the Lord’s. We participated in outreach events, shared testimonies, and served a local football club, but most importantly, we prayed – pleading with the Lord to break our hearts for what breaks His.
As we reflect on our time in Bali, we are reminded of the power of a heartfelt cry to the Lord. The prayer we witnessed challenged us to re-examine our motivations, our compassion, and our understanding of God’s heart.
We realise that serving the Lord begins with a broken heart – a heart that beats for the Lord and longs for His glory. It’s a heart that says, “Lord, break me for what breaks You. Show me the world through Your eyes, and move me with Your compassion.
Mount Batur Blessing
We were blessed to hike Mount Batur, a stunning Indonesian volcano. A generous gift covered the costs, allowing us to experience the breathtaking scenery without worry. We climbed the mountain and saw the breathtaking landscape from the top. It was an unforgettable experience, filled with awe and gratitude.
Bali is our half way mark through the nations. We spent some time debriefing the first half of our journey and really coming together to speak about difficult things and to rejoice over the joys of the past few months. Team life is not always easy but growing together, sharing life and learning how to love each other as a team are lessons that we will carry with us forever. We are so excited to take on the rest of this Global Challenge! Stay tuned to hear more about it…
Send love,
Eastbound.
