Final Preparation for Fieldworkers

If there ever had to be a catchphrase for the Global Challenge community, I believe it would be: ‘’What a privilege’’. It truly is a term that was coined with a heart full of gratitude for what the Lord is doing in and through this community.

The Way to the Nations (WTTN) program officially commenced in January this year, and what a privilege it has been to be a part of its pioneering program. One where those with a love for the nations are equipped by those who have years of experience in the field and still carry a passion for missions. It certainly is a privilege to learn from those who have gone before; from those who are obedient to the call the Lord has for our lives.

The vision of this 6-month equipping period is to plant or grow Kingdom Communities around the world that are passionate about making the gospel accessible to people groups who haven’t heard it yet. To accomplish this vision, there are various opportunities that the Lord has entrusted us with.

Here’s what we’ve been up to so far:

Veritas College Training

Veritas College International is an integrated leadership development course consisting of four modules with a focus on equipping individuals and churches with intensive Bible interpretation skills. We have now completed all four modules, and oh what a privilege it has been to read and understand God’s word with a new lens, and a fresh perspective! A perspective that has taken us deeper into union with Him.

It is wonderful how one can practically apply the skills so naturally, once it has been taught. Our lives have been changed and we will never be able to read His word the same way again!

In addition to the four modules with Veritas College International, is the Level Four Certificate work. One of the WTTN participants describes it in this way: ‘’Since we started our training in January one of my favourite highlights is how my knowledge and understanding of the Bible has grown exponentially, in the last few months. It excites me to spend more time in the word, to see the glory of God, how He loves us, what it means to follow Him and how He is the main character – there really is no other like Him.’’

Community Fellowship

Over the years, Global Community Church has become an epicentre of missions into and from the nations. Almost as a pitstop – a brief rest along a journey, a place to refuel for the race set before us. One of the greatest privileges of this training period is to be surrounded by His faithful ones who have been led and wonderfully planted in Jeffreys Bay, after years of service on the field. From India to Russia, from Mozambique to Portugal, from Peru to Chile, from Zithulele to Canzibe – a beautiful picture of the Good News being spread far and wide, from the east to the west, the north to the south – Oh may His name be carried and glorified to the ends of the earth.

Since the heart of the WTTN program is to see Kingdom Communities planted and grown far and wide, yet intentionally and purposefully – we have been afforded many opportunities to learn from those who are passing on the baton. We have had the privilege to share many meals in fellowship as well as host meals for those in the community or those passing by.
If your favourite meal is spelt W-A-F-F-L-E, the W-T-T-N team eagerly awaits your arrival!

What is Still to Come

We will be diving into understanding different cultures of the world, the fundamentality of worldview, the best approaches how to acquire language, and so much more. As the training continues, we are excited for a deeper integration in our individual ministry points and how the Lord is going to continue to use us in this time.

Stay tuned for more updates about the WTTN program – prayerfully watch this space – the Lord is at work!
